About Working Vagabond

The Working Vagabond website is a personal account of my attempt to build an online business while travelling the world, meeting interesting people, and having various adventures as I go.

For years I have been fortunate enough to have travelled the world fairly extensively, diving on coral reefs, snowboarding, visiting wilderness areas, volunteering, and meeting amazing and fascinating people along the way.  In between trips I have always headed back home to the UK, had to find a new job and place to live, then save up for the next trip.  All my family keep telling me that I should get all the travelling out of my system then settle down and get a steady job, mortgage etc etc.  The problem is that I have been well and truely bitten by the travel bug and I just can’t stop, nor want to.

In an attempt to build some sort of long term income or career (something very hard to do when you spend several months of each year abroad) I have decided to set up a small internet business.  I am focusing on building a mini empire of niche websites, earning money from them via affiliate sales, google adsense, and by privately selling advertising space.  I will be documenting my personal progress here on workingvagabond.com, as well as sharing ideas and experiences with other vagabonds and marketers that come across this website.

Initially I will be living off my savings from my previous job, doing some travelling, and working temporary offline jobs while I build up the business infrastructure.  One day I hope to be able to make a full time living on the web, travelling the world as I please, and working as I go.  With the advent of budget travel and wifi all over the world, I really see no reason why I cannot achieve my dreams.

I hope that this website may inspire others to seek the life of a working vagabond, living imaginatively, and making the most of the only life we will ever get.

Keep on keeping on
